Emergency information

The opening of the following shelters on a countywide basis will normally occur only as a hurricane approaches. For public shelter needs resulting from tropical storms, localized high tides or freshwater flooding, selected shelter openings will be announced by local emergency personnel and media.

+ Deaf interpreter service available.

*** Shelter with oxygen available (for those requiring 2 liters or less per minute).

Radio/television
As a hurricane approaches, radio and television stations will be important sources of emergency information. The Emergency Broadcast System has designated WWRM-FM 94.9 as the primary disaster information channel and WRBQ-AM 1380 and WRBQ-FM 104.7 as the secondary disaster information channels for the Tampa Bay area, including Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Manatee counties.
Most other radio and television stations will be broadcasting the same emergency information.
Pinellas County officials have designated WSUN-AM 620 as the primary station for county emergency information.
In the Tampa Bay area, the National Weather Service will broadcast regularly updated information on its special FM high-band frequency of 162.55 megahertz.
