Red Cross Shelters (Citrus County)

Should a hurricane threaten Citrus County, all residents west of U.S. 19 to one and one half miles east of U.S. 19 must evacuate. Residents who do not have another safe place to wait through the storm should go to one of the Red Cross shelters for their zone. Emergency management officials also have designated specific routes so they can reroute evacuees as shelters fill.

All mobile home residents should evacuate. Other shelters, including two special-needs shelters at Withlacoochee Vocational School, 1007 W Main St. Inverness and Lecanto Primary School, 3790 W Educational Path, will be opened as needed.

In the Tampa Bay area, the National Weather Service will broadcast regularly updated information on its special FM high-band frequency of 162.55 megahertz.
