The Florida International Museum opened its doors in January 1995 with its
premier exhibition, Treasures of
the Czars. When it closed on June 11, 1995, over 600,000 visitors had come to the downtown St. Petersburg museum to
see the Romanov artifacts. This is the
story of how the museum came into being, and how it landed this world-class
exhibition.
