Gallery Eight:
Symbols of Honor
Our next stop is straight ahead. Here is a dark green velvet cloak and hat. These
were worn by a herald acting as master of ceremonies for the Order of St. Andrew
the First Called. Membership in this royal order was the highest honor for men of
the Russian Empire. In Europe, groups like this date back to the knights of the
medieval crusades.
Featured item: Cross, Star and Chain
of the Order of St. Andrew the First Called
While browsing the actual gallery you also would find:
- A cross and ribbon of the Order of St. Catherine
- A doll in the costume of the Order of St. Catherine
