Gallery Nine:
Coronations of Emperors
This gallery focuses on the coronations of the Russian emperors. Please step over
to the free-standing case that contains the golden sphere. This sphere is a
gilded silver finial. It was placed on top of a flagpole bearing the Imperial
Standard, a banner designed for each emperor's coronation. Even after the court
moved to St. Petersburg, Russia, Romanov emperors returned to Moscow for their
coronations.
Featured item: Finial for the Russian State Standard
