The St. Petersburg Times has the largest circulation of any daily newspaper between Miami and Washington, D.C. The Times has 10 community news bureaus plus satellite bureaus in Miami, Tallahassee, and Washington.

Founded in 1884, the newspaper is proud of its independence under private ownership of the internationally known Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg.

Winner of numerous state, regional and national journalism awards each year, the Times has been honored with six Pulitzer Prizes. It was named among the top 10 newspapers in the country by Time magazine, and, since 1992, has ranked among the top 100 best companies in the nation for working mothers by Working Mother magazine. Moreover, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group recently named the paper in the top 10 among the country's largest newspapers for using newsprint with a 40-percent-or-higher recycled content.

Finally, the Times takes its corporate citizenship role seriously, designating more than $2-million each year to sponsor community programs that support quality of life, education and literacy.

The St. Petersburg Times, with headquarters in downtown St. Petersburg, is the largest newspaper in the Tampa Bay area and the 23rd largest in the United States. Notably, the Sunday edition of the Times has the highest home-county market penetration among the nation's top 25 Sunday newspapers.
