A New Day

A sunrise provides the spectacular backdrop for the picturesque redbrick Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Each year, thousands of people attend the annual seafood festival on the lighthouse grounds sponsored by the Loxahatchee Historical Society and Museum to raise funds for the beacon. First lit In 1860, the lighthouse went dark during the Civil War when Confederate sympathizers removed the light mechanism. By 1866, the sentinel shone again.
