A stone forest: Columns in the Ramesseum still bear faint traces of paint over the inscribed hieroglyphs. The tops of the columns represent the lotus and the papyrus, plants that represent the Upper and Lower Kingdoms of ancient Egypt and thus symbolize the Pharoah's rule over the two regions.
